NickServ
From 6IRCNet
[edit] Introduction
NickServ allows users to register nicknames(nick) to prevent other users from using them while they are offline. When a user registers a nick they will be asked to identify to NickServ every time they connect or change to that nick, unless grouped with another nick using NickServ. Registered users can register channels using ChanServ and apply for a custom vhost using HostServ.
[edit] Usage
The standard way to use NickServ is "/MSG NickServ COMMAND" but you can also use "/NS COMMAND". Also the command "/ID PASSWORD can be used to identify a nick.
