[edit] If you haven't any nickname registered yet

Connect to the network using any client or webchat if you haven't done so yet and execute the following command:

/msg NickServ REGISTER password

Now, everytime you connect to the network, you need to identify in order to get the access rights on channels you own. That's command:

/msg NickServ IDENTIFY password

If it's too long for you, some clients (webchat, mIRC, XChat, Konversation, etc.) also allow a shorthand, namely:

/id password

Also, you can type your password in a password field in the server parameters to get authenticated automatically.

[edit] If you already have some nickname

Our network provides a mechanism to maintain a group of nicks sharing a common password, settings, channel permissions, etc. In order to group a nickname_A to already registered nickname_B, you need to set your nickname to nickname_A and issue:

/msg NickServ GROUP nickname_B password

where password is a password you have used to register nickname_B.

[edit] Protecting your nicknames

NickServ, by default, doesn't kill people who try to use your nickname, but has a facility to do so. You can set time you have for identifying after which you (or a person using you nickname) get killed.

To set it to 60s, type:

/msg NickServ SET KILL ON

To set it to 20s, type:

/msg NickServ SET KILL QUICK

To disable autokill, type:

/msg NickServ SET KILL OFF

[edit] Requesting a virtual host (vhost)

If you want to hide your ISP, or just customize your hostname, you need to select one you want to have, that has only a-z, A-Z, 0-9, . and - characters, where "." must occur at least once in the middle of the hostname. In order to request it, type:

/msg HostServ REQUEST hostna.me

Now, you need to wait for an operator to accept it.

If you have more than one nick in a group, the virtual hosts don't propagate automatically to other nicknames, but you can issue /msg HostServ GROUP (where GROUP is just a keyword, you don't need to substitute it with anything) while using a nickname with a desired vhost to set for all nicknames in your group.
